How we check what we publish.

Lottonewsqld reports on lotteries and gaming in Queensland. We verify facts against official sources before publication. This page explains our approach.

Sources we accept

We rely on operator filings and the regulator's public register. For Queensland lotteries, we check the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR Queensland) website and official operator announcements. Operator websites, annual reports, and licence documents serve as primary sources. We do not publish odds, draw dates, or prize rules without a dated source document we can link to or name in the article.

Sources we reject

We do not cite offshore lottery sites or unlicensed betting platforms. Betting exchanges, informal tip sites, and social media posts are not used to verify facts. If a claim appears only on forums or third-party gambling blogs, we treat it as unverified. We ignore press releases from operators until the same fact appears in a regulator's register or official filing.

What triggers an update

We update an article when a rule or game changes at the operator's request and the change is filed with OLGR Queensland. Licence revocation or suspension requires immediate revision. Reader corrections are investigated: if you spot an error, email [email protected] with a source link. We will check it against the regulator's register or operator filing within five working days.

How we publish a correction

Corrections appear as a dated note at the top of the page, not hidden in a footnote. The note names the error, the correct fact, and the source. Example: "Correction, 14 January 2025: This article stated the Powerball draw time as 8:30 p.m. It is 8:00 p.m. Source: The Lott official draw schedule." Old versions are not deleted; readers see the correction alongside the original text. Significant errors (wrong odds, closed games, revoked licences) trigger a full article rewrite with corrections noted and dated.
